SUBTERRANEAN STACKS

​Subterranean Stacks is a proposal for a library in LA’s Historic Park, situated in Chinatown. The project seeks to take materials common in Chinatown like stone and copper, and adopt them in a new way that assists the design intention of a library emerging from the ground of its site. The projects main goal is in generating community interaction by many means including a stepped roof that seeks to engage the public who can access, sit and congregate on the sloped roof. The project included an emphasis on a combination of model making methods, including use of metal, 3D printing, woodwork laser cutting and more.
