BALANCING ACT

Balancing Act is part of a speculative project on the future of urban landscapes. This project takes inspiration from dolmen - ancient monolithic earth-forms that seem isolated and mystical in their size and construction. Using the incomplete section of the 710 freeway in Pasadena, residential, institutional, cultural and commercial programs were speculated in how they might arrange and aggregate around one another in the future. Seemingly defying gravity, the forms envelope their adjacent bridges and hang in a static balance with one another as a contemporary dolmen.
