LOOP

A long study of residential architecture for the displaced, marginalized and homeless included careful study of equitable housing typologies. The final project was a series of co-operative housing units designed for 100 inhabitants circulating around a central theme of “wellness” in an assigned plot of land near The University of Southern California

Loop is a proposal for a co-operative housing complex in which inhabitants’ rental costs are reduced through the distribution of community labor tasks in and around the facility. This particular co-op is centered around generational wellness and physical wellbeing. The conceptual core is concerned with generating equity between people (and generations) with varying physical capabilities via a large band structure which hugs the facade.

Loop's most prominent feature are its circulating ramps, connecting various focal points. This generates a “mobility network”, providing a secondary means of vertical transportation to the primary elevator core and egress stairs which occupy the center and provide direct access to residents’ units and interstitial passive programs.
